Aspirante al cielo
A la hora de diseñar una vivienda, el contexto es siempre lo primero a tener en cuenta. Analizar bien el lugar y el entorno es primordial para tomar las mejores decisiones.
Los condicionantes en este caso son muy buenos. Vecinos y coches de los que protegerse a norte, vistas lejanas a sur y la sierra madrileña, sutilmente asomando, al oeste.
Nuestra vivienda dará la espalda a lo que no nos interesa, adiós a los vecinos, el ruido y el frío. Nos abrimos, sin embargo, a todo lo bueno. Vistas, luz, sol.
Al recorrer el solar, sentimos que desde arriba se nos reclama. Entendido. La vivienda de Elvira y Joaquín tiene vocación de cielo.
When designing a home, the context is always the first thing to consider. Analyzing the place and surroundings carefully is essential to make the best decisions. The constraints in this case are very favorable. Neighbors and cars to shield from in the north, distant views to the south, and the Madrid mountain range subtly appearing to the west. Our home will turn its back on what doesn’t interest us—goodbye to neighbors, noise, and cold. However, we open up to everything good—views, light, sun. As we walk through the plot, we feel a calling from above. Understood. Elvira and Joaquín’s home has a skyward vocation.
Luz y sol
Cómo incide la luz en un edificio, ha sido tema central en la arquitectura desde siempre. Es uno de los principales y más bellos materiales con los que trabajar. También uno de los más dinámicos y emocionales. Si la dejamos entrar, si la ayudamos a moverse por el espacio convenientemente, puede hacernos la vida más hermosa. Cuando los arquitectos trabajan con ella muy bien, puede darnos la sensación de que el tiempo se detiene. De que hay algo que merece la pena. ¡Existe la poesía!
Esta vivienda se abre decididamente para recibir luz y sol. Muy afortunadamente, la orientación que deseamos coincide con la de las vistas. Nos abrimos, por tanto, a la luz, el sol y el paisaje.
Con respecto al sol, generamos estrategias que nos ayuden a buscar su abrigo e influencia directa en el invierno y, en paralelo, evitarlo durante el verano, aplacarlo.
How the light affects a building has been a central theme in architecture forever. It is one of the main and most beautiful materials to work with, also one of the most dynamic and emotional. If we let it in, if we help it move through space appropriately, it can make our lives more beautiful. When architects work with it very well, it can give us the feeling that time stops. That there is something worthwhile. Poetry exists!
This home decisively opens up to receive light and sun. Fortunately, the desired orientation aligns with the views. Therefore, we embrace light, sun, and the landscape. Regarding the sun, we create strategies to seek its warmth and direct influence in winter and, simultaneously, to avoid it during summer, to temper it down.
Sencillez
La sencillez, tan anhelada por nuestros clientes, se expresa, en primer lugar, en cómo se organiza la vivienda.
La casa se divide en zona pública y zona privada, articuladas ambas por el acceso.
La zona pública: cocina, comedor, salón y oficina son los espacios principales que dan la bienvenida al habitante.
La zona privada, a la que se accede después, se subdivide en dos: niños y padres.
Simplicity, so eagerly sought by our clients, is expressed, first and foremost, in how the home is organized.
The house is divided into a public area and a private area, both articulated by the entrance.
The public area: kitchen, dining room, living room, and office are the main spaces that welcome the inhabitant.
The private area, accessed subsequently, is subdivided into two: children and parents.
A la zona de los padres se accede primero, sirviendo de vínculo entre la zona pública y la privada. La zona de los niños, al fondo. Quedan así próximos al patio principal, a la piscina, al exterior…pero completamente independizados de la calle, protegidos. Además, un área que sirve de salón para ellos y los pone en relación con el jardín.
Los padres, a su vez, pueden disfrutar de un patio propio que los vincula con el exterior sin perder intimidad.
Access to the parents’ area comes first, serving as a link between the public and private zones. The children’s area is at the back. This way, they are close to the main courtyard, the pool, the outdoors… but completely separated from the street, protected. Additionally, there’s an area that serves as a living space for them, connecting them with the garden.
The parents, in turn, can enjoy their own courtyard that connects them with the outside without sacrificing privacy.
La sencillez se expresa, paralelamente, en el sistema constructivo. Se trata de un módulo formado por muros de cara de termoarcilla y cubierta de madera inclinada. La inclinación de la cubierta se abre en la orientación deseada, casi como si quisiera estirarse para coger la luz y el sol. Sin embargo, esta inclinación está pensada para que aproveche el sol durante el invierno, pero que lo parapete en el verano (¡el ángulo perfecto!).
La composición total se ha generando mediante la agregación de estos módulos, que se han dimensionado según cada necesidad y creando los vínculos pertinentes entre sí y también con el exterior.
Simplicity is expressed, parallelly, in the construction system. It involves a module formed by thermoclay-faced walls and a sloping wooden roof. The slope of the roof opens in the desired orientation, almost as if it wants to stretch to catch the light and the sun. However, this inclination is designed to harness the sun during winter while shielding it in the summer (the perfect angle!). The overall composition has been generated by aggregating these modules, sized according to each need, and creating relevant links between them and with the exterior.
Materiales naturales
Al exterior, materiales tradicionales: revestimientos de cal aérea y tejados de teja. Algunas de estas cubiertas de teja se dejan resbalar por el muro, protegiendo las fachadas al norte y aportando un punto de contraste al conjunto de la fachada.
La madera, protagonista en el interior de la vivienda, sale al exterior sólo en punto, la marquesina del acceso. De este modo, se puede entender de un plumazo y nada más acceder, los ingredientes fundamentales de los que se compone la receta de nuestra vivienda.
On the exterior, traditional materials: lime air coatings and tile roofs. Some of these tile roofs cascade down the wall, protecting the north facades and providing a contrasting element to the entire facade.
Wood, the protagonist inside the house, emerges outside only in one spot: the entrance canopy. This way, at a glance and upon entering, one can understand the fundamental ingredients that make up the recipe of our home.
En el interior, la madera de pino conforma las cubiertas inclinadas en busca de la luz y el sol. Aporta, a nivel sensorial, la calidez que a uno le gusta sentir cuando está en casa.
La cal, presente en suelos, paredes y techos, con sus propiedades bactericidas y fungicidas, es permeable al vapor y por tanto contribuye en la regulación de temperatura y humedad al interior, siendo, sin embargo, impermeable a la lluvia. Es, además, una voraz consumidora de CO2, ya que necesita este gas natural para su carbonatación. No hemos podido resistirnos al uso de este material natural tan valioso y también tan sumamente presente en las construcciones tradicionales de Castilla La Mancha.
Los bloques de tierra comprimida se han usado también en el interior por sus cualidades de inercia térmica, pero también por las estéticas, ya que aportan textura y profundidad a la experiencia.
On the interior, pine wood shapes the sloped roofs in pursuit of light and sun. Sensationally, it provides the warmth one enjoys feeling at home.
Lime, present in floors, walls, and ceilings, with its bactericidal and fungicidal properties, is vapor-permeable and therefore contributes to the regulation of temperature and humidity indoors, while remaining impermeable to rain. Moreover, it is a voracious consumer of CO2, as it requires this natural gas for carbonation. We couldn’t resist using this valuable and abundantly present natural material in the traditional constructions of Castilla La Mancha.
Compressed earth blocks have also been used indoors for their thermal inertia qualities, but also for their aesthetics, as they add texture and depth to the experience.
Personalidad
Por último, y sin embargo lo más importante, nuestros clientes. Elvira y Joaquín tienen personalidad. Se distinguen porque les gusta decididamente la sencillez, la luz y la intensidad.
Cualidades que se integran a la perfección en esta tierra manchega. Tierra cuya idiosincrasia mana, además, abstración, silencio, espiritualidad.
Se espera que esta vivienda, sencilla pero con vocación de cielo, ayude a la familia de Joaquín y Elvira a mirar al cielo.
