Qué hacemos con un zulo de 20m2 casi sin ventanas, con un altillo en una corrala y casi todo quemado… se veía muy negro…
What do we do with a 20m2 really small flat with almost no windows, with a mezzanine in an old corral and almost everything burnt… it looked very bad…
La vivienda es muy sencilla. Dos espacios divididos por un muro central de carga con estructura de madera. En una parte el salón y en la otra, la entrada, cocina y aseo debajo de un altillo y el dormitorio arriba.
The house is very simple. Two spaces divided by a central load-bearing wall with wooden structure. In one side the living room and in the other, the entrance, kitchen and toilet under a mezzanine and the bedroom upstairs.
En resumen, tenemos un pequeño espacio de 20m2 dividido en dos zonas aisladas, y una de ellas con un techo muy bajo.
Nuestro reto: transformar este espacio oscuro, pequeño y compartimentado en un estudio diáfano, sin desaprovechar ningún espacio, muy luminoso y con el mínimo presupuesto posible. De algo inhóspito…a un lugar agradable.
In short, we have a small space of 20m2 divided into two isolated areas, one of them with a very low ceiling.
Our challenge: to transform this dark, small and compartmentalized space into a diaphanous studio, without wasting any space, very bright and with the minimum possible budget. From something inhospitable… to a pleasant place.
La primera decisión que tomamos es demoler el tabique que divide las estancias. ¡No lo demolemos por completo! vamos a mantener el muro de carga superior, recuperando el muro de ladrillo y los pilares originales de madera.
The first decision we made was to demolish the partition wall that divides the rooms, but we did not demolish it completely! We are going to keep the upper load-bearing wall, recovering the brick wall and the original wooden pillars.
El siguiente paso en busca de esa amplitud es demoler parte del forjado que conforma la doble altura. ¡La entrada empieza a respirar!
Nos valemos de unos ángulos como cargaderos en el corte del forjado y reforzamos un poco las vigas de madera con perfiles de acero.
The next step in search of this amplitude is to demolish part of the slab that forms the double height. The entrance begins to breathe!
We use some angles as load-bearing elements in the cut of the floor slab and we reinforce the wooden beams with steel profiles.
Ampliamos los huecos para que la luz natural inunde todos los espacios, tanto arriba en el altillo como abajo.
Sustituimos las ventanas existentes por unas nuevas, ampliamos el hueco de la ventana del salón y abrimos hueco encima de la puerta de la entrada. De esta manera vamos consiguiendo que la luz natural sea la protagonista de un lugar «casi» destinado a la oscuridad…
We enlarged the openings so that natural light floods all the spaces, both upstairs in the loft and downstairs.
We replaced the existing windows with new ones, enlarged the window opening in the living room and opened a space above the entrance door. In this way we are getting the natural light to be the protagonist of a place “almost” destined to darkness…
Ampliamos la sensación lumínica incluso con la tarima flotante, casi blanca. En la zona de cocina y baño recuperamos el azulejo y solado existente.
En el baño, una puerta corredera…también blanca!
We extended the luminous sensation even with the floor, chosing an almost white wooden floor. In the kitchen and bathroom area we recovered the existing tile and flooring.
In the bathroom, a sliding door…also white!
Se pinta la vivienda de blanco levemente roto. Rescatando y entendiendo los azulejos existentes casi burdeos, se pinta la estructura metálica en el mismo color… llevando este color como contraste a toda la vivienda blanca… elevando la importancia del muro de ladrillo visto.
The house is painted slightly off-white. Rescuing and understanding the existing almost burgundy tiles, the metallic structure is painted in the same color… bringing this color as a contrast to the whole white house… raising the importance of the exposed brick wall.
Para subir al altillo colocamos una escalera de metal pintado en rojo, con los peldaños en madera envejecida.
Y cómo no, se recoge para que no ocupe nada de espacio cuando no se necesita!
To go up to the loft we placed a metal ladder painted in red, with the steps in aged wood.
And of course, it folds away so that it doesn’t take up any space when it is not needed!
Esta casa se vive, se disfruta, se mira, se ve, se ilumina, se comparte… se rescata un lugar casi perdido.
This house is lived in, enjoyed, pleasant to see, brightened up, sharable… a place that was almost lost is being rescued.
